Lehigh Valley Economic Development

Office of Minority and Women-Owned Businesses (OMWOB)

The mission and purpose of the OMWOB is to increase the business opportunities, successes, and long-term sustainability of minority and women-owned businesses in our Lehigh Valley region, working with other partners to further create family-sustaining jobs and prosperity in our diversified Lehigh Valley social and economic communities.

OMWOB serves the minority and women owned business community by:

  • Pro-actively coordinating and leveraging public and private sectors resources that facilitate strategic alliances in support of the mission.
  • Helping to increase the number of start-up businesses in the Lehigh Valley region and to assist in the retention and sustainability of existing businesses.
  • Serving as a portal for information of available services and act as an advocate to refer entrepreneurs to necessary vendors, resources, etc.
  • Providing fist-level support to prospective business owners, followed by referrals to next appropriate agencies, resources and partners.
  • Assisting in strategic business planning.
  • Acting as a consultant and mentor to business owners.
  • Identifying and cultivating relationships with Lehigh Valley and statewide procurement officers and buyers, corporate and business officials.
  • Helping to create dynamic networking opportunities with other businesses, entrepreneurs, partnerships, local and state government officials.
