Lehigh Valley is growing in population, talent and diversity, attracting so many businesses that it is now ranked No. 2 among U.S. mid-sized regions for economic development.

Those are the messages explored in two new marketing videos Lehigh Valley Economic Development (LVEDC) premiered at its March 21 Annual Meeting. LVEDC welcomes supporters to share and embed the videos, produced by Lehigh Valley-based ASR Media Productions.

The first one, which can be viewed here on the LVEDC's YouTube Channel, chronicles the projects that propelled the Lehigh Valley into the No. 2 spot in the ranking in Site Selection magazine’s prestigious Governor’s Cup Awards, which each year determines the best-performing regions in the country for announced or completed economic development projects.

“What’s most impressive – and most important – is that those 46 projects were in nearly every sector of our economy – from life sciences to technology to health care to advanced manufacturing and lots in between,” said LVEDC President and CEO Don Cunningham, President and CEO. “Our strength is a balanced economy. We’ve been ringing up the wins. 2022 continued that streak.”

The projects highlighted on the video represent diverse industries that make the Lehigh Valley economy strong and resilient. The manufacturing projects range from B. Braun Medical’s 310,000-square foot manufacturing expansion to the Easy Signs opening its first U.S. manufacturing facility in the Lehigh Valley. The financial technology company Shift4 Payments announced it is relocating within the Lehigh Valley as part of an expansion, and the National Kitchens and Bath Association moved its headquarters from New Jersey to the Lehigh Valley.

The second video, which can be viewed here, draws attention to the statistics released in 2022 that explains the Lehigh Valley’s economic strengths. A critical market in the heart of the Northeast, the Lehigh Valley has a population of more than 690,000 and is within a day’s drive of one-third of the U.S. population. The population is growing, getting younger an more diverse, and so is the workforce. The region’s record-setting economic output of $47 billion was driven by manufacturing. The region’s 11 colleges and universities produce more than 10,000 graduates a year.
