The $1.2 billion dairy product manufacturing facility that Chobani plans to open in the Lehigh Valley next year is the largest agricultural investment in Pennsylvania history.

And the globally known company’s faith in the Lehigh Valley as a prime site for manufacturing is getting noticed.

Dozens of national news outlets, food and farming industry publications, and manufacturing and commercial real estate trade publications carried the news about why Chobani chose the Lehigh Valley for its latest operation:

  • An advantageous location near major markets
  • A manufacturing workforce ready to go to work
  • And proximity to the second-most dairy farms of any state in the U.S.

Chobani’s operation, which will employ 900 people on a property where food and beverages have been produced for more than four decades, adds major dairy production to the Lehigh Valley’s history of diverse manufacturing.

Lehigh Valley is among the Top 15% of markets nationwide for manufacturing, based on Gross Domestic Product. More than 700 manufacturers produce food and beverages, semiconductors and technology, health care and consumer products, plastics, chemicals, and other items.

Chobani will join global brands including Mack Trucks, Crayola crayons, Martin Guitars, and Peeps.

Here are just a few dozen of the headlines sharing Chobani’s decision to invest in the Lehigh Valley.
