Phoenix Tube, a manufacturer of stainless-steel tubing and other products, will soon expand operations into a second facility in Bethlehem to increase production amid growing demand.
Located adjacent to Phoenix Tube’s existing 200,000 square-foot factory in Bethlehem, the new 75,000-square-foot building is nearly ready for occupancy and will significantly increase the company’s manufacturing footprint.
“This expansion marks an exciting new chapter for Phoenix Tube,” said Andrew Reale, the company’s President. “We’ve seen tremendous growth in recent years, and this facility positions us to meet demand more efficiently while investing in our future.”
Lehigh Valley’s $55.7 billion economy is driven by manufacturing and Phoenix Tube is one of several Lehigh Valley manufacturers that have announced, completed, or started expansions or new locations in recent months.
About 700 manufacturers collectively produce an output of $9 billion a year, representing 16% of the region’s Gross Domestic Product. That puts the Lehigh Valley among the Top 15% of manufacturing markets in the nation. Employment in manufacturing has grown by 28.8% since 2010, three times the rate of the U.S.
Filter King (HVAC filters), FLSmidth Cement (industrial equipment), and Myers Emergency & Power Systems (battery systems) opened new factories this year. Bronkhorst USA (liquid and gas flow instruments) moved into a larger facility where it will begin assembling operations.
Kervan USA (candy) broke ground on a manufacturing and packaging facility. Bosch Rexroth (hydraulics) broke ground on a logistics center.
Kerry Group (coffee roasting and extraction) announced plans for a new factory. B. Braun (medical equipment) and Ecopax (food packaging) announced plans to expand.
Phoenix Tube has more than 25 product lines to make stainless steel tubing, rounds, squares, rectangles, and processed flat bar for ornamental and structural applications. Its products are used in health care, transportation, food services, agriculture, infrastructure, and other applications.
The Phoenix Tube expansion was constructed by J.G. Petrucci Company, Inc.
“Petrucci and their team have been outstanding partners, responsive, collaborative, and committed to delivering a high-quality facility that reflects our standards,” Teale said.
“From the outset, this project was about more than just adding square footage—it was about building the foundation for Phoenix Tube’s next phase of growth,” said Matt Campbell, Project Executive at J.G. Petrucci Company.
The new structure includes heavy manufacturing areas and a 3,200 square-foot mezzanine level for office and storage. The expansion enhances operational efficiency while providing Phoenix Tube with the flexibility to scale operations for years to come.
