The Lehigh Valley’s long and proud history of manufacturing dates to the 1700s, and some of the world’s best-known brands have been producing here for more than a century.
Among the Top 15% of U.S. markets for manufacturing, Lehigh Valley attracts a wide variety of companies that make things. Those makers – about 700 of them – are attracted by our location, accessibility to major East Coast markets, talented workforce, and quality of life.
That story was illustrated recently when executives from iconic manufacturers Crayola, Lutron Electronics, Mack Trucks, Martin Guitar, and Olympus took the stage at Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation’s Fall Signature Event, “Lehigh Valley: Making Products & Making Places.”
A record audience of about 450 people attended the Nov. 11 celebration at Archer Music Hall in downtown Allentown, to honor the innovation, resilience, and community spirit that has shaped the Lehigh Valley’s economic renaissance.
Here is what the leaders of those global brands said about why they have put down roots and invested in the Lehigh Valley.
