What world leader in medtech relocated its North American headquarters to the Lehigh Valley in 2006? What forerunner of semiconductors was first mass produced in the Lehigh Valley in 1951?

If you answered Olympus and transistors, you just might have what it takes to compete in the Lehigh Valley Trivia Contest at Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation’s Annual Meeting March 17 at ArtsQuest Center in Bethlehem.

Grover Silcox, a long-time television personality and five-time Emmy Award winner, will return as game show host, reprising the role he played at an LVEDC event last November at Archer Hall. Attendees can participate using their smartphones to answer questions and see how they score in real time.

“The trivia contest sparked tremendous enthusiasm at our Fall Signature Event that highlighted iconic makers in our region, and we’re excited to bring it back for our Annual Meeting,” said Nicole Radzievich Mertz, LVEDC's Vice President of Marketing, Communications, and Research. “The questions reflect the Lehigh Valley’s rich tradition of manufacturing innovation. It’s a story we’re still writing today with projects like Lilly.”

LVEDC’s Annual Meeting, Lehigh Valley’s premier economic development event, will take an inside look at the recently announced Eli Lilly and Company selection of the region for a $3.5 billion investment and a record setting 2025 in economic development. The pharmaceutical manufacturing campus in Upper Macungie Township will be the largest life sciences project in the state and the largest investment ever in the Lehigh Valley.

The 90-minute Annual Meeting program will share insights about the Lilly project and how LVEDC and its partners are working together to continue the momentum and position the region to meet its challenges and continue its success.

Registration is required to attend the meeting, which will be held from 3:30-5 p.m. Register here.

The Lehigh Valley has long been one of America’s manufacturing centers. Manufacturing is the largest part of the region’s economy with more than 700 manufacturers making products that touch every corner of American life. As America celebrates the 250th Anniversary of its founding, the Lehigh Valley enters a new chapter in its history with the manufacturing of medicines.
