Michael Parden, Chief Executive Officer of B. Braun Medical Inc., has been appointed as the newest member of the Board of Directors of Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC), replacing retired B. Braun CEO Rob Albert.
Parden leads the company’s North American organization and oversees strategy, performance, and long‑term growth. He brings broad international leadership experience, having served in senior executive roles in Europe, including as Managing Director of B. Braun Medical Ltd. in the United Kingdom.
Parden was named CEO of B. Braun Medical in May.
“B. Braun is one of the Lehigh Valley’s largest life science employers and manufacturers and has long been a great partner in regional economic development issues,” said Don Cunningham, President & CEO of LVEDC. “Rob Albert was a great Board member, and we’re thrilled to welcome Michael Parden to the Lehigh Valley and honored by his willingness to serve on the LVEDC Board.”
Throughout his career, Parden has focused on operational excellence, customer‑driven innovation and building strong, collaborative teams. He is committed to B. Braun’s mission of protecting and improving the health of people worldwide, while fostering a culture grounded in integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement. He also serves on the boards of the German American Chamber of Commerce and the Association for Accessible Medicines.
B. Braun is based in Germany. Its U.S. headquarters has been located in the Lehigh Valley, in Bethlehem, since 1979, with a facility in Hanover Township, Lehigh County that manufactures medical devices. Last year, the company announced a $20 million expansion of that facility, the second expansion there in three years.
The majority of LVEDC’s 35-member Board are senior leaders from the region’s largest employers, education, and community organizations, elected by LVEDC’s Executive tier investors. Public sector Board members who are on the Board as ex-officio members include the city mayors and county leaders.
Board members are essential in the development of LVEDC’s long-term strategic plan by defining its vision, priorities, and strategic initiatives.
