Four new members of LVEDC's Board of Directors beginning their terms are, from left, Adam J. Galczynski of UGI Utilities, Dr. Lisa Greenawalt of Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, Rev. James J. Greenfield OSFS of DeSales University, and Thomas R. Ike of Lutron Electronics.Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp. (LVEDC) announced the election of new Board members and recognized the contributions of members whose terms expired.
“Our Board brings together the talents of leaders from the private and public sectors of the Lehigh Valley working toward shared goals of supporting economic growth, creating jobs, and attracting and retaining talent,” said Don Cunningham, LVEDC President & CEO.
LVEDC’s Board includes elected members who are executives from major employers and organizations that invest in LVEDC, as well ex officio members representing Lehigh and Northampton counties, Lehigh Valley’s three cities, and key partner organizations such as the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, Discover Lehigh Valley, and the Lehigh Valley Partnership.
Board members representing the private sector are selected by a nominating committee of the Board and ratified by a vote of eligible LVEDC investors. Terms are three years, and Board members may serve two consecutive terms.
Beginning their first terms on the LVEDC Board of Directors are:
- Adam J. Galczynski, Corporate Director of Sales and Lehigh Valley Director for UGI Utilities
- Lisa Greenawalt, Executive Director of Lehigh Career and Technical Institute
- Rev. James J. Greenfield OSFS, President of DeSales University
- Thomas R. Ike, Executive Vice President for Lutron Electronics
In addition, two members were elected to their first Board terms this year after being appointed during 2022 to fill vacant seats. They are:
- Michele McGrath, Engineer, Air Products
- Carolyn Stennett, Vice President of Human Resources for Victaulic
Three Board members were elected to a second term:
- Ann Bieber, President of Lehigh Carbon Community College
- Neal Koplin, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Banking Officer of Peoples Security Bank and Trust
- Loren Speziale, Deputy Managing Partner at Gross McGinley LLP.
LVEDC also recognized four outgoing Board members:
- Donald Bernhard, Chair of the Allentown Economic Development Corporation
- Kassie Hilgert, President and CEO of ArtsQuest
- Silvia Hoffman, President of MSKD architects
- Richard Larson, a business executive for manufacturing and technology companies
Bernhard played a key role in the formation of LVEDC and has been a contributor to the organization throughout its 28-year history.
Hilgert also has been a long-standing supporter of LVEDC and has served the Board in multiple capacities.
In addition, LVEDC recognized Patricia Johnson who resigned from the Board and from her position as Treasurer in July 2022 when she retired as Vice President for Finance & Administration at Lehigh University, and Northampton County Council Member Kevin Lott, who was succeeded as the county council’s representative by Council Member Tara Zrinski.
LVEDC also announced the new slate of Executive Committee officers, who will serve a 2-year term.
Edward Dougherty, Senior Vice President & Chief Business Development Officer for Lehigh Valley Health Network, will serve an additional term as Board Chair.
The newly elected Vice Chair is Stephen Hoff, Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer for Crayola.
Chris Brown, Senior Vice President & Director SBA Lending for Fulton Bank, will continue as Treasurer. Brown was appointed in July 2022 to fill Patricia Johnson’s unexpired term.
Dan McCarthy, Secretary of Lehigh Valley Partnership, will continue for another term as Secretary.
“Board members are tremendous assets for our regional economic development coalition,” Cunningham said. “Their expertise and insight helps guide the programs and initiatives that support LVEDC’s strategic objectives. We look forward to the contributions of incoming Board members and appreciate the support we have received from departing members.”
