A new symbol of Lehigh Valley pride has arrived at the Lehigh Valley Mall.
Joined by executives of the mall, iconic companies in the region, and local mascots, the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC) unveiled a 6-foot-by-7-foot “Made in Lehigh Valley” logo sculpture Wednesday at the center of the mall.
Inspired by Philadelphia’s iconic LOVE sculpture, the installation is designed to be a fun, photo-worthy destination where residents and visitors can show their Lehigh Valley pride.
“The sculpture is a public extension of LVEDC’s regional branding campaign that has featured iconic Lehigh Valley manufacturers on billboards and national and international efforts to brand our region as one of America’s leading manufacturing centers and a cool place to work, live, and visit,” said Don Cunningham, President & CEO of LVEDC.
The campaign celebrates Lehigh Valley’s manufacturing heritage, its standing as America’s No. 1 mid-sized market, and its appeal as one of America’s coolest and most authentic markets. A greater awareness of the Lehigh Valley also helps regional employers attract and retain the talent they need to compete.
“Lehigh Valley has established itself as one of the premier economic regions in Pennsylvania, and this installation is a celebration of that momentum,” said Colleen Ansbach, General Manager, Lehigh Valley Mall. “As a long-standing anchor in this community, Lehigh Valley Mall is honored to collaborate with LVEDC to continue to highlight the growth, talent, and business opportunities that make our region thrive.”
Cunningham thanked the mall for its partnership as being the first location for the sculpture. LVEDC envisions the sculpture as the first of several installations across the region, bringing its “Made in Lehigh Valley” branding campaign into public spaces.
“It is our hope to extend the ‘Made in Lehigh Valley’ sculptures to outdoor spaces in iconic spots and downtowns across the Lehigh Valley, much like Cleveland has done with its signature logo,” Cunningham said. “We are in discussions now on how to make that happen.”
Lehigh County Executive Josh Siegel and representatives from Crayola, Martin Guitar, and Freshpet shared why a strong regional identity matters to businesses and the community.
Crayola has been manufacturing crayons in the Lehigh Valley since 1903, building one of the world's most recognizable consumer brands.
“Crayola’s roots in the Lehigh Valley run deep. We are proud of the generations of employees and families whose talent and dedication have helped our company grow while strengthening the region’s rich manufacturing heritage. This sculpture is a meaningful symbol of the pride, creativity, authenticity, and craftsmanship that define the Lehigh Valley, and we are so honored and proud to be part of the Lehigh Valley’s tremendous success story,” said Marta JeBran, Director of Government & Community Affairs at Crayola.
Martin Guitar has called Nazareth home since 1839.
“A company only lasts that long if they're in the right place,” said Scott Gervais, Chief Operating Officer at C.F. Martin & Co. “People want to live here, and that's why companies like ours compete and remain here. So, when you stop by the sculpture, take a photo and share it. Tag it. Tell the world where you are, because great products made by great people are made here in the Lehigh Valley.”
Freshpet opened its first Lehigh Valley manufacturing facility in 2013 and has expanded its operations several times since. Sharon Prince, Head of Internal Communications at Freshpet, spoke at Wednesday’s announcement.
“The Lehigh Valley has been an important part of Freshpet’s growth, and we’re proud of the roots we’ve built here and excited about what’s ahead. ‘Made in Lehigh Valley’ gives us an opportunity to tell that story together and show that great products are made here, great teams are built here, and iconic brands can thrive here,” said Billy Cyr, CEO of Freshpet.
Mascots from the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and Crayola also joined the celebration, posing with the partners in front of the sculpture for social-media ready photos.
The sculpture was fabricated by Inaflash Sign & Design of Emmaus.
The Lehigh Valley is one of America’s fastest growing mid-size markets in both population and economy, a rare region with a population under one million people where manufacturing is the largest part of its $57.3 billion economy.
The Lehigh Valley is one of the Top 15% manufacturing markets in the U.S. based on Gross Domestic Product. More than 700 manufacturers collectively produce an output of $9 billion, representing 16% of Lehigh Valley’s GDP. Nationally, manufacturing is 11% of GDP.
Site Selection Magazine, a leading source of real estate research, ranked Lehigh Valley as the No. 1 mid-sized market for the number of economic development projects in 2025, for the second time in three years.
