The 18062 ZIP code that includes Macungie and surrounding communities is the 10th hottest ZIP code in the United States for home sales, according to Realtor.com®.
In addition to Macungie, the 18062 ZIP code includes parts of Lower Macungie, Hereford, and Upper Milford townships in Lehigh County, and Longswamp and District townships in Berks County.
“Macungie’s growing appeal is a testament to its vibrant community, excellent opportunities for education, and proximity to key amenities, making it a prime destination for homebuyers,” said Michael Bernadyn, President-elect of the Greater Lehigh Valley Realtors.”
Homes in the 18062 ZIP code received an average of 2.7 times as many online page views compared to properties nationally. The median time that properties in the ZIP code were on the market was 16 days and the median listed selling price was $462,000.
Here’s how Realtor.com® described what’s driving the demand in the Macungie area, in an article about the hottest ZIP codes.
“Macungie, located about 10 miles south of Allentown, PA, offers a close-knit community and scenic surroundings, perfect for those who enjoy a quiet, suburban lifestyle. The town has beautiful parks, events like the annual Das Awkscht Fescht car show, and convenient access to the Lehigh Valley’s larger cities for additional amenities and opportunities. The area offers a diverse array of home styles, including ranch, Colonial, traditional two-story, and townhouses.”
This is the fourth consecutive year that a Lehigh Valley community has ranked high on the annual list of hottest ZIP codes.
In 2023, the 18064 ZIP code that includes Nazareth and surrounding townships ranked fifth.
In 2022, Bethlehem’s 18017 ZIP code ranked sixth. That ZIP code includes much of north Bethlehem, along with Freemansburg and parts of East Allen Township and Hanover Township, Northampton County.
In 2021, Bethlehem’s 18018 ZIP code ranked 12th. That ZIP code includes the historic Bethlehem district and surrounding area.
The Lehigh Valley’s growing economy and inviting quality of life are driving housing demand, as people are seizing opportunities to work and raise a family. The Lehigh Valley is among the fastest-growing regions of the Northeast.
The region’s $50 billion economy is creating opportunities for people of all skill and education levels.
The region offers a variety of lifestyles, from thriving downtowns in cities and boroughs to rural suburban communities. The dining scene caters to many tastes, and recreational opportunities range from music and art to history and sports. The region is home to 11 colleges and universities and top-rated healthcare systems.
Those factors are reflected in the demand for housing in America’s hottest ZIP codes, Realtor.com® Chief Economist Danielle Hale said in a news release.
“While we’ve seen big changes in the housing market, such as a growing number of homes for sale, this year’s hottest ZIP codes in America show common factors are driving interest in these highly competitive areas,” Hale said. “Although mortgage rate relief is starting to materialize, this year’s hottest ZIPs reflect the focus on affordability that home shoppers have had over the last few years in the face of high housing costs. Concentrated in larger metros across the Northeast and Midwest, these top 10 ZIPs attracted highly qualified home buyers seeking more space without relinquishing proximity to urban amenities.”
