Lehigh Valley Minor League Ballpark Gets New Name and Partner in Jefferson Health

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs, whose Allentown ballpark leads Minor League Baseball in attendance, announced it will be renamed Jefferson Park beginning with the 2027 season.

The new name expands a nearly 20-year partnership between the Philadelphia Phillies Triple-A affiliate and Lehigh Valley Health Network, part of Jefferson Health, one of the region’s largest employers.

“This announcement will have a meaningful impact on the future of our ballpark and team,” said IronPigs Co-Owner Joe Finley. “It is an exciting moment for our organization and one that we believe will create tremendous opportunities and excitement for our fans, our community and our partners.”

The Lehigh County-owned ballpark, currently Coca-Cola Park, opened in 2008 as a marquee public-private partnership project on the site once operated by Agere Systems between American Parkway and Union Boulevard.

Since then, the ballpark has drawn nearly 10 million visitors and become one of the Lehigh Valley’s most prominent sports and entertainment destinations. It was also ranked the No. 1 Minor League Ballpark by readers of USA TODAY.

Beyond hosting the IronPigs, the ballpark draws visitors and hosts events throughout the year, adding to the amenities that make the Lehigh Valley an attractive place to live, work and visit.

“Jefferson is proud to stand alongside the IronPigs in a partnership that reflects our commitment to strengthen the communities in which we serve,” Jefferson CEO Joseph G. Cacchione said. “We are committed to making a long-term positive impact on the Lehigh Valley and the surrounding areas.”

Coca-Cola will remain a valued IronPigs partner and continue as the team’s exclusive beverage provider, according to an IronPigs press release.

Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC) President & CEO Don Cunningham, was Lehigh County Executive when the ballpark opened in 2008.

The team’s name is an homage to the Lehigh Valley’s steel-making heritage. Pig iron is a byproduct of smelting iron ore used in the production of steel, and the team’s mascots Ferrus and FeFe are both references to Fe, the symbol for the chemical element of iron.
