Updated July 10: Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp. finished a second printing of the Welcome Guide, which is available upon request.
Employers in the Lehigh Valley have a new tool to recruit talent for their workforce, a guide they can hand to prospective hires that showcases the high quality-of-life the region offers.
The latest edition of the Lehigh Valley Guide was published recently by Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp. (LVEDC) and Discover Lehigh Valley.
The 24-page publication promotes selling points such as the many recreational and cultural offerings; family and pet-friendly activities; the food scene; the outstanding colleges and universities; urban, suburban, and rural living options; and the plethora of civic and support organizations and networking opportunities.
A robust supply of talent must be available to attract and retain employers, and the guide tells the story of why the Lehigh Valley is a great place to live and work.
It is available on the websites of LVEDC and Discover Lehigh Valley and is ideal for human resources and talent recruitment departments, Realtors, and colleges and universities to share with people who are not familiar with the area.
The guide debuted at LVEDC’s recent annual meeting, where it was distributed to more than 700 attendees.
"Continuing to grow a talented workforce is the most critical factor to drive economic growth. This guide helps to advance that by sharing the Lehigh Valley story with those considering us or who are making a transition to the region," said Don Cunningham, President and CEO of LVEDC.
“This comprehensive guide showcases the best that our region has to offer, from our vibrant cities and towns to our picturesque countryside. Whether you're a foodie, a history buff, or an outdoor adventurer, Lehigh Valley has something for everyone. I invite you to explore, experience, and fall in love with Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania through this new publication,” said Alex Michaels, President and CEO of Discover Lehigh Valley.
This is the third edition of the guide, and each has been larger and more comprehensive than previous editions. The first edition in 2018 was eight pages. The size doubled to 16 pages in 2020.
This is the first updated edition since the COVID-19 pandemic. The update includes QR codes leading to additional resources that tell the region’s story.
The goal is to publish a new edition annually, and to include even more information to show off what the Lehigh Valley has to offer.
"There's a natural alignment between the mission of LVEDC and Discover Lehigh Valley,” Cunningham said. “We are proud partners in producing this guide and highlighting the rich diversity of cultural, recreational, employment, and educational opportunities here.”
