Dan McCarthy serves as Secretary of the Lehigh Valley Partnership, a public-private organization made up of the region’s largest employers. He is President of McCarthy Communications Strategies, and has 45 years of public relations and community affairs experience. Before forming his consulting firm, Dan served as a Vice President for PPL Corporation, leading the Corporate Communications and Community Affairs Department for 16 years. In various roles over 35 years at PPL, Dan designed and implemented dozens of integrated, comprehensive campaigns in support of high-stakes projects in the United States, United Kingdom, and Latin America. He also was the founding President of the PPL Foundation, the corporation’s major philanthropic arm. A political science graduate of Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, he also has completed courses at the University of Virginia, Harvard University, and Dartmouth College. He is past Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Historic Bethlehem Partnership, and past President of the Cancer Support Community of the Lehigh Valley Board of Directors.
