Dr. Nathan Urban
Since July of 2020, Nathan Urban has served as Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs at Lehigh University, the Lehigh Valley's only research university. Under Nathan's academic leadership, Lehigh has developed a new strategic plan ("Inspiring the Future Makers"), enrolled record numbers of undergraduate students, and increased federal research funding by more than 60%. Lehigh has been ranked in the top 15 colleges and universities in the country by The Wall Street Journal for the last two years and was recently identified as one of the most highly ranked research active universities in the country ("R1" status) by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education. Nathan also serves on the Board of Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Educated at the University of Pittsburgh (PhD in Neuroscience) and Oxford University, Nathan also trained as a postdoctoral fellow at the Max Plank Institute for Medical Research in Heidelberg, Germany. He previously served on the faculty and in leadership roles at Carnegie Mellon University and at the University of Pittsburgh.
Nathan and his wife, Kristen, live in Bethlehem Township.
