There is still time to register for the 5th Annual Lehigh Valley Internship Summit, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 27 at DeSales University.
Leaders from major Lehigh Valley employers and career services professionals from the Lehigh Valley’s colleges and universities will share advice on what makes an internship program successful. 
The keynote speaker will be Shawn VanDerziel, Executive Director of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), who is a leading voice on the transition from college to career. In his presentation, entitled “Recruiting Interns and New College Grads: What you need to know,” VanDerziel will share research on the priorities and interests of new college graduates as they enter the workforce.
The program includes two panel discussions.
A panel about how companies can create meaningful projects for their interns will be moderated by Courteney Cox, Human Resources Specialist – Talent Acquisition, at Lutron Electronics. The panel will include representatives from St. Luke’s University Health Network and Barry Isett & Associates, along with interns from each.
A panel about mentorship will be moderated by Silvia Hoffman, President of MKSD Architects. The panel will include representatives from Lehigh Valley Health Network and Freshpet, along with interns from each.
The panels will be followed by roundtable discussions about key topics for successful internship programs for summit attendees to explore further.
The summit is hosted by Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp. (LVEDC) in partnership with the region’s colleges and universities and is sponsored by Penn Strategies and DeSales.
