The Lehigh Valley is entering 2024 in a strong economic position. With an economic output topping $50 billion, the Lehigh Valley continues to attract residents, employers, and jobs for people of all skill levels.
That success is supported by innovative programs and resources that build a skilled workforce and a better understanding of the region’s economic advantages.
As 2024 begins, tap into these Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp. (LVEDC) resources to make the economy even stronger.
Internship Toolkit
Recruiting new employees is one of the biggest challenges for businesses of all sizes. One way to create a pipeline of talent is through internships.
LVEDC has developed an Internship Resource Guide to help employers build a successful program. The guide (download here), explains the steps necessary to start a program, and how to work with area colleges and universities to fill those internship positions.
The guide offers a timeline for how to implement an internship, along with learning objectives and an evaluation process.
LVEDC also hosts an annual Internship Summit, in partnership with the Lehigh Valley’s colleges and universities. Employers who attend can network and learn best practices.
Hot Careers Dashboard and Guide
Parents, teachers, and career guidance professionals can help students identify which career they want to pursue by using LVEDC’s Hot Careers Dashboard and Hot Careers Guide.
The guide (download here) lists occupations that commonly appear in Lehigh Valley job postings or were suggested for inclusion by local employers.
New in 2023 is the dashboard (view it here), an interactive, digital version of the Hot Careers Guide. Students and job seekers can use it to explore jobs, industries, wages, educational programs, and more to shape career paths.
