The latest edition of the Lehigh Valley Talent Newsletter has been published, highlighting a unique new apprenticeship program and offering advice from experts about how employers can attract and retain talent.

The e-newsletter, by Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp. (LVEDC), shares an article introducing the Industrial Training and Education Consortium of the Lehigh Valley (iTEC) that was unveiled in October at the Lehigh Valley Manufacturing Forum.

The apprenticeship program is a partnership of industry, educators, government, and community organizations to promote careers in advanced manufacturing. It follows the German apprenticeship model and leads to apprentices attaining an industry-recognized credential while working and earning wages.

The e-newsletter also shares advice presented by four Lehigh Valley human resources leaders about talent attraction and retention. They shared their expertise with an audience of about 50 employers, educators, and regional partners at a meeting of LVEDC’s Education and Talent Supply Council at Northampton Community College in October.

The Lehigh Valley Talent Newsletter debuted earlier this year and is produced quarterly. The goal of the newsletter is to keep the Lehigh Valley community informed about talent-related news, local data and information, career paths of people in the Lehigh Valley, and national trends.

You can read the current edition here and sign up for the e-newsletter here.

The talent newsletter is just one of the many initiatives driven by LVEDC’s Education and Talent Supply Council, a regional coalition formed in 2015. The council brings together leaders from business, education, and community organizations to identify talent market gaps and implement strategies that strengthen the talent pipeline in the Lehigh Valley.
