In the Lehigh Valley, employers continue to prioritize attracting new talent to their businesses and growing their talent pipelines. One tried and true way is through internship programs.
At the 2023 Internship Summit, leaders from major Lehigh Valley employers and career services professionals from the Lehigh Valley’s colleges and universities will share how to establish and expand successful internship programs and explore current trends. Businesses also learn how to connect with colleges and universities to promote internship opportunities to their students.
The summit is scheduled for July 27 at DeSales University from 8 a.m. to noon.
The annual event now in its fifth year, hosted by Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp. (LVEDC) in partnership with the region’s colleges and universities, informs businesses about best practices and current trends in internship programs.
The event is free. Register here. It is sponsored by Penn Strategies.

"People are key to making our businesses successful here, so businesses are constantly looking to connect with and develop their future talent. Internships are an impactful way to do this,” said Karianne Gelinas, LVEDC Vice President of Regional Partnerships and Talent Strategies.

Understanding What Interns Value and Engaging Interns
An annual Internship Resources Guide is published by LVEDC to share information about internship programs, how to create and evaluate a program, and current trends in programs. It includes a directory of the region’s colleges, universities, and career and technical schools.
Both the Internship Summit and Internship Resources Guide are supported by LVEDC’s Education and Talent Supply Council, which connects leaders from business, education, and community organizations to identify talent market gaps and implement strategies that strengthen the talent pipeline.
